For me cycling is a lifestyle and it has been for a long, long time! Well actually its also my job and why you are likely to see me around the Eat Sleep Cycle stores on any given day. So, it’s not a trendy cool thing I have just taken up as a passing hobby. I have ridden more bikes and had more apparel than most will go through in a lifetime. Big deal I hear you say! Well, I am merely giving you a little background to the guy who rides 30,000km plus a year and has raced everything from BMX & MTB to stage races & time trials to Gran Fondos & Ultra distance events in all weather conditions over half the globe. In doing this I have found what clothing works best in most situations and what doesn’t.
In 2014 I was introduced to Luigi Bergamo who had recently founded Q36.5 the research laboratory and performance race wear. Its hard believe that merely a decade ago this small name had been born in the heart of the Italian Dolomites in Balzano by Luigi (who had over 20 years’ experience in research and development for big brands) with only a few very select pieces of apparel and a focus on bib shorts. After trying a few items I was blown away by how technical everything was and the innovative way everything felt on the bike. A new relationship was to flourish and I am proud to say I still exclusively use Q36.5 unless I am being paid not to at work! For sure I am a proud ambassador. Of course, now the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team has lifted the brand’s profile along with riders such as Vincenzo Nibali, winner of all three grand tours so evolution and development continue. If Q36.5 can satisfy the needs of the Pro peloton and individuals like me riding in all extremes of weather and events day after day then hopefully you will also pay close attention and check out what is on offer at Eat Sleep Cycle from Q36.5.
Last year I had the pleasure of taking a group of guests from Eat Sleep Cycle along to Q36.5 headquarters in Balzano and I can tell you they were blown away by what they seen in house and heard that day from Daniela Fusarpoli!
You will find garments with a completely different feel to others on the market with proprietary fabrics and pre-shape fit that push the boundaries of what is possible. This may be their ground breaking bib shorts or seamless base layers to mention a couple. One of my favourites has to be the smart fibre on the inside of the UF Hybrid Shell. This heat fibre is produced from the residue of coffee bean processing and it attracts far-infrared rays from the environment and uses them to heat the body! However, in Catalunya’s summer temperatures the Clima jersey is a firm favourite for me with the revolutionary Graphene yarn technology keeping the body stay temperature neutral in the heat. Excellent thermoregulation properties mean it dries incredibly quickly while riding.
Of course, Q36.5 uses innovative sustainable textiles all sourced within a 350km radius of their headquarters and that includes the packaging! With up to 100% recycled materials such as recycled Polyester fabric made from PET bottles collected in Florence you cannot ignore the environmental aspect! This is something I know is important to Lee y Luisa of Eat Sleep Cycle and of course it should be to everyone today making Q36.5 a stand out choice.
So, try something different that will stand the test of time, innovative technical apparel with sustainable textiles and recycled materials that are minimal in weight. Absolutely Equipment, Q36.5.
